About the position

We will have an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified Roofer/Carpenter to join our fast-growing solar installation team. In this role, you will be managing and carrying out solar PV installations in Domestic, Commercial & Agricultural settings.

You will be part of a fantastic team and will play a key role in each installation project. Through our generous bonus structure, you will have a direct stake in the success of our company and know your contributions are valued and recognised.

The main requirement is that you must be fully qualified with a National Craft Certificate. For more information on requirements and nice to have, keep reading below.

What if I have no experience in Solar? Does that matter?

Not at all. You already have the roofing/carpentry expertise. We will provide all the training you will need to transfer your knowledge and skills to solar PV Installations.

How does a solar installation work?

  • When a customer contacts us, we do an approx. quote with details of the size of the system. We use our specialised software to look up the property on google maps and then design the most appropriate system to suit their circumstances and needs. We take into account, the direction the property is facing, the pitch and type of roof, the clients current annual consumption, and the times they are most likely to consume the most.
  • Once the initial system design is approved, our head engineer then visits the site to conduct a complete survey of the property. He inspects, measures and ensures everything on the original quote will work and notes any modifications needed. This is to ensure that when you turn up, you have everything you need to complete the job and there are no surprises.
  • Once this is complete, a final system design is drawn up and distributed to the team, including you, with full details of exactly what is required.
  • Once we confirm the delivery of materials and equipment to the site, we agree an installation date with the client.
  • Then you, our roofer, completes the first part of the project by installing the solar panels on the roof.
  • Once that is complete, the electrician (and possibly an electrician apprentice) comes in to complete the electrical part of the project and bring the system into commission.

What is in it for us

We want to see our business thrive and grow. But for us, it's about more than just that. Our ultimate goal is to help more people switch to solar so, we can all live in a greener Ireland. That's why PureVolt Solar exists, and that's why we get up in the morning.

James Smyth Dublin & East
Senior Roofer / Installer

With a professional background in all aspects of roofing, James joined the PureVolt team in 2023. He works with the Dublin & East Ireland solar team as a senior roofer and PV panels installer. Expect a big friendly smile and a conscientious approach.

Luke Daunt-Smyth Dublin & East
Apprentice Electrician

With a background in accounting and finance, it was in the churn and change of Covid-19 that Luke would discover a hidden passion for construction and renewable energy. And it is this passion which continues to fuel him as he progresses through his apprenticeship as a valued member of the PureVolt team.

James Sinnot Galway & West
Senior Electrician

With 17 years' experience as an electrician, James first developed an interest in solar energy while working in Europe, where he saw firsthand the environmental and economic benefits of switching to renewables. Today, James is sharing his passion for clean energy in his role as senior electrician on our Galway & West Ireland team.

Phil Teare

Despite his background in science and engineering, it was as an enrtepreneur and angel investor that Phil found his passion. That's when PureVolt Solar was born.

With a keen interest in the latest developments in solar tech, Gonzalo embodies our commitment to creating a greener Ireland.

Gary Hanley East & West
Head Roofer / Installer

Gary's carpentry skills took him as far as Canada and Australia before he returned to Ireland and repurposed his roofing skills as a solar panels installer. Today, Gary works heads our installation teams both in the west and the east of Ireland.

Ian Murphy East & West
Chief Solar Engineer

If you go ahead with a detailed quote, it will probably be Ian who visits you. He will inspect your roof, your electrics and anything that could affect solar performance. You can expect Ian to be open, honest and transparent: if solar is not the best solution for you right now, it's Ian's job to say so.

Nathan Wareing Galway & West
Assistant Solar Installer

With a background in his family's own roofing business, Nathan says a head for heights is in his DNA. But two other things are equally core to his being. The first is a passion for seeing Ireland go green. The second is dogs: if you have a friendly pooch, Nathan will be its friend for life by the time your installation is completed.
